University of New Haven Student Newspaper Wins National Awards
The Charger Bulletin earned first place in the college newspapers category from the American Scholastic Press Association, and two of the papers editors were recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists.

The University of New Haven announced today that its independent student newspaper, , has won several national awards.
The paper won a first place award for college newspapers from the . The paper received a perfect score in the creativity category and nearly perfect scores in the layout and editing categories. It also received the award for Outstanding Section in sports.
One of the paper's writers, Samantha Reposa '18, was awarded a regional Mark of Excellence Award for Feature Photography from the . Her feature photo was of a #MeToo march in Washington, D.C. The photo was also a finalist for a national award.
The SPJ also declared the paper's editor, Glenn Rohrabacher, a finalist in the sports category for a volleyball photo.
Our students have worked hard to make this paper one worthy of national distinction. It has evolved into one of the best-designed, most interesting, and well-written papers in the country. Tom Garrett, associate professor and head of the Communication, Film, and Media Studies Department
Glenn Rohrbacker, '18, editor of the paper for the last two years, said, "The recognition is a testament to the involvement of our staff and the exponential growth we have seen in the past two years. Our staff is committed to being a vital resource for the campus community and a common voice for students at the University."
Susan L. Campbell, distinguished lecturer in communication and a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, is the advisor for the paper.
