About Jamie
A Certified Health Education Specialist and health science researcher, Jamie has extensive experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating health programs. She joined the University in 2022 as a Practitioner in Residence and a Research Coordinator on the Universities first-ever National Institutes of Health grant. Her grant work also includes serving as the Lead Health Promotion Specialist on a federal Department of Justice COPS office grant focused on gun violence prevention, as well as contributing to an oral health project funded by CareQuest, aimed to improve equitable access to preventative dental care.
In 2025, she received the Faculty Excellence Award for her outstanding teaching, innovative evidence-based pedagogy, and exceptional student mentorship. She was also featured by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) in an article titled, 鈥淭eaching Beyond the Textbook: Connecting Academia and Practice.鈥 Jamie earned her MPH degree at the University of Bridgeport and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Health Sciences degree with the University of New Haven.
Prior to joining the University, she worked for many years as a Health Educator in local health. She has implemented successful health promotion programs around diabetes prevention, maternal and child health, lead poisoning prevention, opioids, and played a crucial role on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
